Most self defence courses are more likely to train you to get killed rather than save your butt.

 Brief intro, I don't class myself as a Martial Artist as such. My main training base is Boxing and have trained on and off for ages around different gyms. Around this time I first came across Geoff Thompson's stuff which reinforced the stuff I had already ...

Hello all,

Thought I would post a retrospective hello after coming here to drop off a couple of comments.

Joined the Army aged 18 and spent the last 14 years(ish) doing variations on a theme in terms of jobs therein.

The only 'fighting arts' experience I have is boxing (at which i have represented up to and including combined services) although I havent fought in a muber of years.

Potentially looking to start again at some point if only to get a little trimmer.

could anyone please advise me on this;

My main passion is teaching womens and childrens self defence.

These seminar taught ladys reverse punches, side kicks and had no lessons on anti- surveillance/awareness/home safety, etc.

My name is Alex and I'm 21. I'm not really one for joining forums as from my experiences in the past they often contain a lot of negativity, however after reading some previous posts I've been very impressed with the content!

I think what also sealed the deal was seeing who the moderators are - some very respectable names I recognise from martial arts / self protection world.

For starters I'm a 20 year old bloke from Finland. My concrete experience in martial arts limits to MMA which I trained about six months before going to army. I got back few months ago and now I have just tried to get real fit. Martial arts trainig has been very limited, I have only punched shadows and a heavy bag. But since the day I started I've been very interested in fighting and self-defence in particular. My problem is that in my town only chance for me to study self-defence ...
