Hi All
I firstly came on here to ask Bob Spour a simple question. However here is a quick intro.
From 17 I have been in uniform joined the Junior Parachute Regiment then to Depot then off to 3 Para so on and so forth to other things. During P Coy the test to earn you maroon machine we had to do a test called 'Milling' two men some 15 oz gloves and one minuet to knock seven bells out of each other. back then no gum shields no head guard. you lose points for defending or blocking. You just went for the head and kept going, its reason was to see if a guy during a firefight would stick his head up, locate the point and enemy fire and return rounds. or RTR.
During my time I have learnt styles of Krav Maga, it varies from region to country in my experience. Personally I have had to resort to it only once on operations to restrain an un happy Serb during Kosovo in July 99 when in Pristina, every other time its been 5.56...mostly.
Hope to pick up some good insight into other fighting styles and training tips as well as other things, mostly so to maintain my all ready crumbling knackerd body, 21 years of Parachuting takes a lot out you, believe me.

Re: Hi all
Hi
Thanks for the intro
Good to have you on board - everyone is welcome
All I will say is be respectful and keep any personal issues you have to yourself and PM with the particular person involved
We are not frightened of debate here, but nor are we interested in keyboard wars, character assassination and generally non-friendly attitude.
I think you get what I mean.
We've been knicknamed the Positive crowd, which is fine - so long as you understand Positive to mean, good natured, friendly, supportive, open to opinions, etc etc
Anyway - thanks for your intro and I look forward to your posts

Re: Hi all
5.56 is the standard nato round for longs. 7.62 is the heavier bullet used for G3 and for AK47 (warshaw pact). The .303 is the round used for long range killings.

Re: Hi all
Hi steve
Or 5.56 sleeping pill
7.62 for GPMP section and Sp weapons in the sf role and 7.62x51 sniper rifle. 9 mm for shorts Sig Sauer replacing the 9mm Browning.
81mm mortar
k115 Millan Anti Tank now Javalin. 16 grands worth in 12 seconds
50 browning HMG (heavy Machine Gun) and Barret 50 sniper but more for 1400 m piss off effect and engine blocks
The list goes on so wont send you all to sleep, if not already
Soviat 7.62 being a tad thicker case but with a 100 m less range than our kit in a section plus Ak's a spray weapons so not very accurate at 300 so we have a bit of an advantage on the two way range
Sorry, wake up
