Hi Al,

I am interested to know have you ever done alot of training with Barrington in the past? or did you ever work with him as your time spent as a doorman?

I know Barrington well. Consider him a friend of mine.

He used to come down to our club many years ago, to train with some of the big lads in our club when he was getting ready for a fight. This was before his Cage Fighting days.

Have never worked with him on the doors, although obviously, living and working in Coventry we'd see a fair bit of each other coming into each other's clubs, etc.

He's a very talented guy. Massive heavy hitter and puncher. His ground game is very good too. He was training with Matty Evans a while ago but not sure if he still is.
Always in incredible shape as well. There may be an old photo of me, Barrington and my great friend Jim Burns on my website - not sure if I posted it. Barrington looks in tremendous shape on that picture and never seems to get any older

Why do you ask?

Hi Al,

Many thanks for your reply, the reason i ask is just out of interest really-although i wondered if you had ever done any 1-1 personal training with barrington and if so what area would you have said he specialised in.I saw his retirement fight in oct 08 against Bob Schreiber and he showed another strong performance and got the win.I watched a documentary on barrington last year and it portrayed him as a birmingham city football holligan which i didn't take too much notice of considering how t.v documentarys sometimes stray away from the whole truth. One part of the documentary which made me smile though was when his training partner Andre Verdu said 'if barrington punches you he's liable to break your neck,so he tends to use an open hand which does the trick!!'
