It will be great to get some support from you forum guys for Tim's first MMA debut. He is currently training 5 times a week with various FFMA instructors and will also be getting some tuition from my good friend Master Sken to fully prepare him. At FFMA he is being trained by:

• Mark Collett on MMA
• Tony Terranova on stand up
• Joe Viall on boxing
• Ade Banks on wrestling

This is the first of FFMA students to go into the ring, the next will be Joe Viall who is hoping to make his debut in the boxing ring later this year. Joe has been getting some fantastic coaching from Glenn Smith in Coventry.

Regards to you all,
Tony. T

PS: Tim I am proud of you mate and have 100% faith in your ability to succeed, at the club you are my compassionate samurai (that is a book by the way and a great read!)

Tim in my humble opinion is on of the most naturally talented
Martial artists I have met in over 24 years of uninterupted training, he will prob not like me saying this, but also one of the nicest men I've met too! Like all
People I've met aspiring to become more than mediocre and not settling for
For an average at best level, he's disarmingly honest and humble about his own ability......something I've noticed time and again with all at FFMA. A great representative for the arts in general and testament to Tony,Alan and Marks teachings, I know this is a major goal realised for Tim...but I have a feeling its just the tip of the iceberg. Good luck my friend.....though I believe its not needed in your case.
Take care
Mick x

Thank you for the kind words. I have wanted this for a while now and with the coaching, training and diet Tony, Alan and Mark are working with me on I am quietly confident although a little nervous.

Pete i will speak to mark as he is sorting out my training programme, i am truly grateful for the offer.

Best of luck mate, but like everybody has already intimated I don't think you will need it. Your dedication, hard work and intensity has put you in the right place to win, as has the top advice that you are receiving. The whole club are proud of you and 100% behind you. Well done for achieving the goals you set for yourself, that shouldn't be underestimated.

Hi Tim

Good luck mate and really sorry I can't be there to support you on this one.

It's always a pleasure to have you down on the Sunday class, and over the past year or so that I've known you I've seen you progress at an unbelievable rate.
As has already been said. What I respect the most is your dedication and your constant search for top instruction. I don't know many people who, in their first year of training, have travelled internationally to meet and train with the world's best.
And now you have that instruction on your doorstep.

Good luck mate - it's in the bag clap

Bad news guys, didn't manage the win on Saturday night. Gutted does not even touch how i felt after.

Started off in first round and the guy shot in for a takedown and we both went against the ropes and then ended up on the floor with him in my half guard. I had himpretty well wrapped up and was landing some good shots to his ribs then he managed to get through and take mount. I was shrimping across the ring not letting him base and reversed mount so i was in his guard although he had grabbed my right arm. I was again able to land some shots to his head but the triangle was creeping on and instead of keep raining shots on him i tried to escape...... Mistake and tap tap tap. Finish.

Massive thank you to Mark Collett and Tony Terranova for being there with me all of the way and the whole day on saturday, taking a great deal of their own free time to make sure everything went as best it could. All of the others who have pushed me to places i didn't know existed during the toughest 8 weeks of training i have ever done. Everyone who was there on saturday night, what a great turn out. And also to Nisa my better half for putting up with me and my work, train, sleep lifestyle.

And yes there will be a next time........... Very Happy

Hi Tim

Was gutted to get your text at the weekend

Well done for putting so much effort in and for stepping through the ropes/cage - that's the battle fought right there - the win wouldn have just been a bonus Wink

Thanks for sharing the fight review with us - and I'm sure I speak for everyone on here when I say - the best of luck for your next fight - I'll do my best to make it for that one mate - see your first win Wink

Hi Tim,

Sorry to hear that you didn't win. In the internal arts they talk about investing in loss. You've lost a battle but you will learn from it so you will win next time. Look at Edison who had to go trough lots of failed experiments before he prefected the lightbulb. So will this loss help you to become a better fighter.

Well done getting in there.

Kind Regards,

Nick Engelen

Hi Tim,
I am reading your post while working late at night in Jo'berg in South Africa - as Alan said you did awsome mate as you crossed the line in the sand many cannot do and you went into the ring to fight full on MMA - you have barely been training 2 years and you went into an MMA fight heavy weight category - I know many who have trained for years that would not have the self belief to do what you did - I have been on the receiving end of many of your punches, kicks, knees, clinches, tap outs and take downs for months and know how good you have become in such a short space of time - I need to get myself a t-shirt that says "the older I get the faster I was" so that you can take it a little easier on my old bones - I am proud of you and so is Mark, Alan and every FFMA instructor and student...
