This is ricks first attempt at the padded assailant scenario
Here are some pointers from my end,
Try not to get to distracted by questions, I know a few people who have been punch after looking at their watch, it’s a classic distraction technique
If someone comes at you aggressively don’t get into an argument, take them by surprise if you can

Once he went for it, he drove forward striking and forcing me back, off balance how can I hit him hard when I’m busy trying to stay on my feet and getting beat round the head

I think you did a good job for your first time, I was impressed well done mate

thanks kaarl. and yer, i was using peripheral vision with the watch thing. not obvious from the video, or the inside of the helmet lol. point is, i was aware at all times (specially since i knew it was coming lol)
i also took a slight step back to create more space between us. if someone see's you wearing a watch, and asks you for the time, you cant say "sorry mate, no i dont" as they might have no intention of attacking you etc.

just a couple more points,
the way you moved away and scanned after the first attack and the fact that you were using different strikes from different distance's proves that the way your training is working

maybe you could try this"the watch is broke mate"

lol. yer, ya dont think of that when someone walks up and asks for the time though. if you expect to get attacked, you will be attacked imo. being aware is one thing, but a complete victim mentality is just asking for trouble.

just my opinion, and by no means justifies, or insults the way i acted under pressure. lets face it, all this analysis aint happening under pressure anyways, but i felt so long as i was confident, aware, and in reasonable control (another reason for lifting the arm) then its all good.

one thing i really did struggle with, and still do (although im practicing) is keeping the fence up when im not talking. cant talk with my hands if im not talking if you know what i mean, and if i leave it up, it becomes obvious (i think) so any advice there would be good.

Looks like a good training session there! I can see what you mean about the camera making a difference to help hone the skills Kaarl and that suit looks fun. Nice one guys!

i'm not sure what the space of the garage allows, but don't stay in one place if possible, move around him so he has to re-orientate, towards your wanted exit, as it is you're behaving as he wants, he's chosen the battle ground as it were.

also if one person goes from one ploy to the next you know something's up, bang him sooner, nobody needs the time and asks if you've seen their wallet without dodgy intent.

also don't do as asked, don't give the him the time, ("watch stopped mate can't help" / "i don't have a watch") as it is you looked down to your watch as he wanted, in that moment he had you. rehearse your get out clauses to all common requests so you can keep him lined up, constantly give yourself yourself an out ('sorry mate late for a bus, gotta run')

or if you don't know him control space as he approaches (5-8 m away if you see him coming and you're outside on the street) with a "stay their for us mate", he keeps coming (3m say) "stay the fuck back" (louder more aggressively), if he keep coming he gets both barrels (clearly this doesn't apply to a garage, just general contact management courtesy of southnarc). you don't do this to a kindly old lady obviously, but a hood rat who you don't know you do.

great job though, putting stuff on the net is honest and takes courage, respect.

Cant argue on the comment made there,
It is better to decline and be polite, than look and give them what they want when you could be being sized up for an attack,

Also the asking the time, or you got a light mate? scenario is also classic of pincer movements as well. so as paul says just be aware. its all very well saying as you did

habits are formed in training, what is done over and over becomes instinct and automatic, and this is the kind of response you dont want to happen if and when you need these techniques. I may seem like an unsociable git at times but I dont give the time, and have used the " sorry mate, aint got a watch, " or " sorry mate, mines broke " anything to make sure I dont look down or have to take my eyes off the person asking.

Like I said before though mate, nice going, takes a lot to put your vids up but well done as its the only way to gain another perspective.

also, USE YOUR FENCE lol, practice it with EVERYONE, mrs, kids, work mates, friends, your gran, everyone. make it second nature. dont have your hands by your sides keep them in a place you can control the distance in a subtle manner until its time to not be subtle.

Strike off the fence, Hard, Fast, and bury it into him.

So I noticed lol
it was the use of it or was that the lack of

good tips guys,

and with the fence like Craig said, you can train it all the time,

you can also do subtle things like lining up the doorway whenever you walk through it using your fence, its good for training mechanics and visualising as well

Careful lining up the door though, I did it once, followed through with a right hook and got Framed for it

Anyone watching might think you're a bit unhinged.

You could also do a few rounds of Letter BOXING
