Anyone comin' over to Canada? Empty Anyone comin' over to Canada?

Post by Conor MacPhee Tue Dec 16, 2008 4:45 am

Just wondering if anyone from the UK has any intentions in putting on a workshop over here in Canada (Vancouver), anytime soon?
And if that isn't going to happen, how about putting together a 'distance education' or 'online course' for people who are instructors and want to certify, but can't afford the trip to come over and train?
As I have been researching combatives and self-protection, I have found that the some of the best stuff is coming out of the UK right now (just my opinion...however, my peers agree with me).
    So, how about it guys?

I'd happily come over to Canada Conor.

Could combine the trip with a few days skiing and keep the girlfriend happy too Wink

Nothing has been set up yet but if I can get enough people for a couple of 1 day seminars I'm sure the figures would work out.

Would need some serious techy support to set up a distance learning workshop but I'm sure we have the skills on this forum to organise that.

Perhaps we could do a distance learning version of the Feb Seminar

I have...we've sent a few emails back and forth. He was asking about my background and what I'm looking for, and brought up his Pentagon System. I'm hoping that we can correspond and work something out. Thanks again for pointing me in his direction...seems like a cool guy!

If you want regular RBSD training with someone close to your location you also have Rich Dimitri basically on your doorstep. He's based in Montreal and can be contact via his www.senshido.com website.

Well, Montreal being 2300 miles isn't really on my doorstep...but I see what you're inferring. I am quite familiar with our domestic resources - Rich Dimitri, Tony Blauer, Robbie Cressman, and the Wolfe brothers (to name a few), but I wanted to cross borders and learn from some of the ground breakers in modern combatives. I am also a dual-citizen (Canada-UK), so there is a selfish side of me that feels I should embrace my British roots by learning from some of my brethren!

    Hi Conor

I have a great friend in Vancouver called Tim Bown.

He's a bulletman (one of the best I've met) and is also now an instructor in the FAST combatives system designed by myself and Bill Kipp.

He was one of the regular bulletmen at Peyton Quinn and Bill Kipp's RMCAT courses, and is also a regular at Marc McYoung's get togethers.

Send me a PM and I'll give you his email address.

I had the dubious honour of dislocating his shoulder during a fight last August but he's healed up fine Smile
