I have Just walked in the door about 10mins. ago from a trip that started at 8 O'clock on Saturday morning. (it's now 8:40 Sunday Night). and even with the 750 miles i put in for my couple of days training It was worth every single one of them. Every single instructor who taught on the seminar was absolutely top class and amazing guys to be around for a day, thank you all very much.(and for £10 you were all robbed. i hope you all got a turn from DVD and book sales). And a special thanks to Mick and Al for having us on Sunday and making us so welcome over at your class in Coventry. Can't wait till next time, You are all an inspiration.

All the CCMA attendees had a great time. It was an excellent event, well organized and structured with enthusiastic coaches at the top of their game. I look forward to writing it all up!

    Hi Jamie

Many thanks for coming along and supporting the event - it was great to see you and the CCMA crew there.

Thanks also for offering to write this up - I think a few people are going to be doing that and it's great to have as much coverage as possible.

    Thanks again - speak soon

    Cheers

Thanks for your support Jamie your write up as always will be excellent and it would be great to see it published in some of the MA magazines - you should include in your content 'the importance of tapping out' as we have now nicknamed Tim (one of our top students who you gracefully choked out) - "Tim the Tap" -

    Guess i deserve that!

The way i look at training is it has to be 100% or why bother? If you tap as soon as a submission is on then you are kidding yourself and partner, i understand the need to tap early to avoid injury with arm bars etc but regarding chokes then why not push yourself to the limits?

Saturday was a top day and really enjoyed everyones in put.

Thanks to all those involved with organising such a huge success.

Hi Tim, thanks for letting me try out that tree trunk you call a neck and sorry again for what happened. The trouble was what I put on you wasn't, technically-speaking, a choke even though we all confusingly call it that. It was an arm triangle strangle. Chokes are easier to know when to tap to, as you get a better indication when your airways are being violenty compressed than you do when the small tubes we call our carotid arteries are. Strangles can come on all of a sudden. I saw one guy in a competition almost pass another bloke's guard, but the defender inexplicably had a tight hold of his opponent's gi lapel and had it tightly pressed into the side of his neck and it was goodnight Vienna. The pass action actually caused the knock-out. A complete fluke if ever I saw it Shocked , even if the defender later claimed he had set the whole thing up! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

No worries mate. And no need to apologise for that either, I fully expect the odd black eye or split lip from training as it is the nature of the beast, saturday was all in good spirits and completely my own fault for not tapping in time. Lesson learnt....Maybe!

    Respect

    Dear all,

Just thought I would add my thanks to the many that have said so many good things. What an experience.

The instruction was great, the attitude was first class and if there is one thing that I will take away it is that each of the instructors, although each coming from a different perspective, had total respect for everybody's contribution.

At FFMA we have great time with Tony and Alan's training and the balance and conditioning they pass on to us is spot on but it was also truly inspiring to listen to the other guys.

    - Eddie Quinn and the figure of 8, 'just f***ing smash it'...fantastic
    - Lee Morrison's ferocious intensity
    - Carl, who made choking my brother more enjoyable than it should've been
    - Al Peasland who could hold a room, PowerPoint or no PowerPoint
    - Bob Spour, brilliant but he must have subconsciously influenced me to find out more about NLP. I am just pleased he didn't influence me to part with a fiver for a photo...
    - Peter Skillen's session was excellent, really well delivered and I was truly impressed by his assistant
    - Mick Tully, Tim Coppin and Jamie Clubb - enough said. It would be simple to focus on the tap but don't miss the fact it all ended with a handshake and Tim still offered himself to Mick so he could have a go.

Thanks for a great day and for opening doors to different thinking, but as I said earlier the thing that sticks with me most is the obvious respect people had for everybody else's contribution.

    Take Care,

    Matt

I didn't know about "Tim the Tap" until reading this! How did i miss that!? Is he on here!? He's gaining legendary status fast!
Gotta say though, best quotes of the seminar for me were:

Eddie Quinn : "Just fucking smash it!".........simple, effective and to the point!

Al Peasland : "Who wants an animal day?? - As you can see Mick and the guys are just warming up" - met with stunned silence! Quality!
