G'Day everyone.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone and anyone for the positive things they did during 2009, lets make 2010 the most positive year ever.
If you can help someone in 2010 then make the effort to do so. Even little things count. Let someone cut in front of you in traffic, help someone pick up things they have dropped, buy a homeless person a meal or give then a blanked, if you have the honest ability to intervene then do so if it is safe to, if you have to use violence in 2010 then make the total amount of violence as small as possible. decide now to do the "right" thing in 2010.
but don't forget about yourself.
Within the Postmodern approaches to psychological therapy there is a Solution Based Brief Therapy technique that I think everyone can benefit from. it's called "The Miracle Question", and goes something like this.
If by some miracle you woke up tomorrow with all your problems solved, How would you know? What would be different? What would you be doing thats different? What would you have that you didn't have, and what wouldn't you have that you did? What would your life be like with out your problems?
Be as detailed and as descriptive as you can in your answer.
the answers you come up with then become a basis for your goals for 2010 it is the end result of your solutions. Forget the problems, instead focus on finding solutions or ways to get to the end result you provided. Use your observations and answers to the Miracle Question as a guide or stepping stones to achieving this.
Be solution focussed not problem focussed
Merry Christmas everybody
and may the best of the past,
be the worst of your 2010.
