A time to reflect Empty A time to reflect

Post by Guest Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:26 am

Hey Guys and gals of course,
I have not done this for a while. so thought id start typing and see where it leads as usual. here goes....

I have just been talking on the phone to a friend of mine recently, he has the two kids, house, mrs, mortgage etc and bills to pay ( as we all do ). He is working in a call centre, for a crap wage, yet he went out a while ago and qualified as a plumber. He now has a trade behind him and can if he so chooses earn some decent cash. He keeps telling me he does not have time, does not have the cash etc etc etc. When all he needs is that little bit of encouragement. He can start working part time, earn some extra cash, get some experience, make contacts in the trade. he is not doing this, WHY?

FEAR.... trepidation, anxiety, nerves, excitement, and fear of failure, he is safe where he is, busting his balls for 8 hours a day listening to complaints, and advising people on bills, etc etc.

WHY do we all sit back, let the world pass us by, not take notice of how our partner looks so beautiful, when turned in a certain light, maybe in a way you had never seen them before. Why do we not see the most precious things in our children when in a certain mood, or because we had a bad day. Why, can we not just sit for 5 minutes, without the television on, and look at what we have in this life, and think, you know what.... maybe just maybe my life is not as bad as i think it is.

Most of you know I have had some rough times recently, this has been a hard road, and one I am still working on, not to say I am depressed anymore, but I am now working on this new adventure, scared, anxious, nervous, excited, feeling like I wanna throw up one minute, and conquer the world the next. However. If i do not try, I shall never know.

people always say, " who do you think you are to get above your station in life "

    "WHAT FECKING STATION"?

Who are you to tell me, what I can or cannot achieve, who are you to tell me I can never be successful in what I choose to do, to whatever level I wish to do it. Because you have never done it, or felt you could not do it?.

I have already lost a couple of friends on this journey, they saw me before as aggressive, assertive, and in your face. Now I have realised, I can be just as assertive, without aggression, I have realised it was there from all the shit I went through from different people, and it was an automatic defence mechanism to protect myself.

Channel it, use it, harnass it, and move on,
move past what life throws at you, take all it can throw, take what people say, listen and reply with " your opinions you are entitled to, however, fact it may not be " prove them wrong. prove to yourself you are worthy enough to move past into an arena which you are afraid of, the worst we can do is fail. but if we believe in ourself, and our ability. we will succeed.

One way or another we learn, be it by good or bad experiences, we take something from it. but what if we never have these experiences to start with? what if we plod on like mechanical drones, working, sleeping, eating, sitting on the throne and wazzing your life away. then what?

Geoff made a nice comment on our last day, ill leave it to you to figure out for yourself

" Piss Excellence gentlemen, PISS EXCELLENCE "

Everything you do, make it excellent, whether it's a smile to a passing stranger ( a friend you have not yet come to know ). or your writings, teachings, your job, or being a better person.

Make that choice and LIVE, dont just exist. We deserve more, we will get more, but make it your choice.

Choices are made, not given, we make the choice to do what we want, when we want and how we want, we are then presented with the opportunity to shine at it.

Guys, basically in a nut shell, I guess what I am trying to say is, I have talked to so many of you on here, and you all have your own field of expertise, but it does not mean we cannot learn from each other, and if we can do it on here, we can pass it on out there in the real world.

We are all instructors in human nature, why not isntruct ourselves, on being how we wish to be?

If a man can think, dream, and hope, why cant he be the man he dreamt of being as a child.?

    God Bless
    Craig

Liked it Craig, you're a deep one ain't you. Very Happy

I have to say in my experience there is nobody out there who is fully 'sorted' in terms of their life. I used to see these guys in the military that I thought were the hardest, toughest most solid guys you could ever meet. It would never be too long before you realised that they had fears, insecurities and low moods just like all the rest of us mere mortals. You get through as best you can and its inspiring human beings like you guys that help along the way.

    Hey Alan

Nah just just mad moments of ramblings which if they help but one person its all worth it. im scared of something every day of the week but hey we are human. but helps to know there are people who can and do help and life can be a little more bearable then its worth it.

read the other two, they get better lol.

You're right Craig - it's not what you do but how you do it that counts.

Discovering your potential is crucial, you need to develop your own mental base, you need to hone your awareness and mental focus so that you think and see accurately and hopefully in time, wisely, then engage in life and experience every moment to the full, appreciating it's passage, the changes and the way everything passes from one thing to another.

Energy never dies - it just keeps changing form, our wisdom of that fact means that we can really appreciate every fleeting stage of our life and of everything around us.

If you ignore it, worry too much about the past or future - you miss it in all it's beauty.
