I now have the book, following your recommendation, and am part way through.
It's very thorough and a very interesting read. Certainly a manual all self protection instructors should acquire

No probs, Al. You part-inspired me to write the review. As I said, it pretty much fills that awkward gap in self defence instruction. I have actually taught the Law Society self defence, so I went through a certain forge on this. Fortunately I had some good documented legal cases available to quote from, but Dawes's book is the most well-rounded and specialist one of its kind. It should be requisite reading alongside De Becker's, Grossman's and, of course, Peter and Geoff's work.
