Hi all,
My name is Matt Viall and at 32 am very new to the world of Martial Arts (MA).
I have always found excuses in the past not to try MA and these have ranged from:
a) I should have started younger and am now too old
b) I don't know which one to do
c) I am not fit enough
d) I don't want to start at the back of the class and look like a wally etc etc
I could go on as I am very practiced at finding reasons not to do things.
I am lucky though as I have a fantastic 'little' brother Joe who has always been very persistant in trying to get me into something that he really enjoys and believes in. Joe is a talented guy and gets a lot of benefit from MMA so after much encouragement I finally dragged my lazy body to a session at Tony and Alan's FFMA in Woodmancote, nr Cheltenham.
For those that know Tony, Alan and their instructors (Joe, Ed, Ross, Steve and Emma) you will know what a great, open, friendly club they run and although I have never been so completely dead on my feet as I have at their sessions (the only workout my abs got previously was sucking my stomach in) I can honestly say I really enjoy it. The buzz you get from hard work is very rewarding.
I have now been for 3 months and the pay off in terms of fitness, confidence, shape and general well being is great. I only wish I had worried less about looking like a wally and started years ago...
All the best,
Matt
