I'm moving to Newcastle this thursday and i've been looking for places to train and i've come across a place that interests me that teaches kali and muay thai - perfect.
Is anyone from or heard of Team Pheonix on here or able to give me more information?

    Thanks

Yes mate,i have heard of them. I believe the main instructor is Matt Teasdale (or something similiar) and he is certified under Ron Balicki.

From what i understand Matt is meant to be pretty good but perhaps one of the JKD guys will be able to shed more light.

Haven't met Matt or trained with him, but by reputation he is a very good guy. People who's opinion I respect speak highly of him, thats good enough for me. Ron Balicki is world class, so one of his students should be the business.

AMC Steve knows Matt, hopefully the big man will pitch in.

Seems everyone has the same to go on as I have then. I'll be going along to check it out once the house and work is all sorted. I've heard nothing but good praise but thought a little insider knowledge can always be handy. Thanks for the replies guys!

It's odd, i know no-one up here but my mrs, started going a tad insane towards end of last week but i got in the garage, got my kit out and had a good vent on the heavy bag and pads. Then mrs came and attacked me with my spare ratan, which was interesting. haha! I've heard it's a cracking night life up here (will find out next weekend). Mick, by hockey i assume you're referring to ice hockey? Will have to check it out. Beats football in my book. Razz

    Hi,

    you will love Newcastle,

when I had a night life it was great and to all accounts still is, lots of students study at newcastle uni more for the nightlife than anything else.

If its the place im thinking of, the phoenix club, my mate trained vale tudo there and loved it.

At the time you paid £50 a month DD and trained with whoever/whenever/as long as you like.

Open 9 til 9 everyday and loads of arts/instructors to choose from.

Might have all changed now but definately worth checking out 1st.

    Cheers,

    Den.
