    Hi.. Me again......

How many of you get Drunk in possible dangerous enviroments, e.g. Night club's
or is it the case you dont get drunk and keep switched on in code yellow?
or maybe just 2 or 3 drinks while keeping the wareness still there?

Difficult thing I find these days is relaxing in these types of enviroment, find I'm too parranoid to really enjoy myself, looking around for whos a risk and assessing the situation and my surroundings... lol thats sad right?????

Hi all, I have deleted two posts as they were leaning towards sarcasm and we all know where that can lead. Try to be courtious at all times and stick to the subject matter within the question. Cheers. peter

In the words of Geoff Thompson, if you are uncomfortable in these environments, avoid them! If you are hanging around places that are likely to kick off- don't go there. Awareness and aviodance plays a big part here.

i only go to places i enjoy, i am the type of person that loves socialising with my mates or the wife, and we only go to places that we all enjoy. i dont think its that i am looking for good and bad areas but more i am in places that atract the same kind of person that i am.

i know there are assholes everywhere and even though i do have a good drink i am aware of the other people around me, i also beleive that because of the training we do we 'hold ' ourselves differently, not ego but confident, and i think people can sense it.

Censored again eh....you guys make me feel like Larry Flynt around here Twisted Evil

Its not sad Davey, but it is a pretty common side effect of becoming perhaps a little too absorbed in the SP mindset. I have known a lot of people over the years in the martial arts / self protection world who come out "for a good time" and its about as much fun as being with McBain. They stand around with their backs to the walls, drinking soda water, constantly assessing the impending lethal threat. Well I have been in the same bars as these guys, on the same nights out, got hammered, had a great laugh, and we all got home OK.

I have also known quite a few McBain types on nights out who have actually invited trouble with this mentality. If you stand in the corner of a bar, looking mean and scanning your eyes across the room, sooner or later someone is going to come up and ask what the f#ck are you looking at? Its one of the oldest sayings in the book, but if you go looking for trouble it will find you.

Predators kill two things - prey and competition. In my experience if you just relax, have confidence in your ability and the group around you, then you'll just look like a normal guy having a good time and people will leave you alone. Train hard, with good people in a positive, healthy environment where your skill is constantly tested - and the rest falls into place. When I walk out the gym I forget about training, there's more to life than martial arts. I like to go out with my mates, have a bunch of drinks, relax and have a great time. I'm not worried about being attacked, not worried about how alcohol will impair my fighting ability, I'm not worried about any of that - I'm having a good time. Life's too short.

I tend to find myself unable to switch off entirely but i don't go out very often and i rarely drink as i tend to take things the wrong way when i've had one too many, so to avoid becoming the drunken idiot i kerb it. If it goes off around me when i'm on a night out, i tend to get my mrs out the way and keep my distance from the trouble. At least i'm getting home safe (theoretically) that night.
