hi guys,
my name is mick and i am positive!
there i've said it!
now i can start my 12 steps to recovery
as you may have noticed i have a irreverent attitude to life!
oh yeah...intro...
like most martial artists i had the usual bullied start to life and thought that the answers to my problems could be solved by learning karate
so started to read all the mags at the time combat etc
all these cool guys like Bob Spour,Rick Young,Rick Faye,Terry Barrnet,Bob Breen...and last but not least Dan Inosanto
up til i was 16 i had seen bits and pieces on tv..then i saw GT in action on the door at busters
that didn't look like anything i had seen!
After that i started training with Andy Margrett in coventry and worked my way through the ranks
after 4 years i graded for my 1st dan and passed yet still felt the same bullied child...and that was when i was 20!
One of andy's training partners was Al Hine who was best friends with GT so i started training with Al in his garage on friday nights before they went to work...a result of a badly manged "incident" in the pink parrot led to GT giving me a copy of his article "confrontation de-sensitization"...which led in turn to me reading the rough draft of watch my back....to which i said to GT..best book i've read!!still believe that!
Through my training i met and became friends with Al Peasland who to this day is the only man i trust completely with my life and is like the brother i should have had!
Anyway i carried on training with Andy until i left to go to germany for work for 5 years...while i was there i trained in jiu jitsu with Shihan Manfred Guger and Sifu Horst Schmitt in WT wing chun........then the adventure sarted to begin...stay tuned
