Hello All,
My name is Mark Fry and I have been studying Martial Arts since 1989.
I started training at Waltham Forest Boxing Club developing the skills required to defend myself, whilst increasing low self-esteem. I continued to study the art of Western Boxing and went on to train at the famous East London Boxing Gym, Repton Boys ABA.
In 1990, I continued to study and compete in Wado Rye Karate and Korean Tae kwon do, and in 1995 discovered the art of Traditional Japanese Ju-Jitsu. I am now certified as a 1st Degree Blackbelt Instructor, passing five sections, and achieving a credit under the United Nations and British Ju-Jitsu Association.
In 2001, still fearful of violent confrontation, I became a Licensed Doorman and worked “The Doors” in North London, Westminster and Essex. Consequently, I was constantly challenged in dealing with both the positive and negative effects of adrenalin and learning to control the psyche when dealing with aggressive confrontation.
In 2002, whilst studying and spending time with Psychotherapists and hospitalised mental health patients, I learnt many effective techniques in cognitive behaviour therapy. I developed skills, which would enable me to challenge my fear and anxiety. In addition, I spent a further year training in the military combat art of Systema under a member of the KGB unit REX Valerie Riazanov, assisted by Connell Mikhail Ryabko.
Since the year 2000, I have read material written by Geoff Thompson and Peter Consterdine, and finally met them both at a Self Defence seminar in Coventry, England. I am now a Level 1 Senior Instructor in Self Protection, privately trained and certified by Geoff Thompson, and a 1st Degree Blackbelt Instructor in Self Protection certified under Peter Consterdine and Geoff Thompson, care of the British Combat Association and The Association and Register of Self Protection Instructors.
I feel that in order to be the best all round Self Protection Expert, Martial Artist and Fighter I can be, it is necessary to train for each discipline separately and therefore currently trains at the following training camps.
Monthly
Self Protection at Geoff Thompson's Private Masterclass under Head Instructor of the BCA, Geoff Thompson.
Fortnightly (Switching to Daily, 5 weeks prior to Fight)
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at Pancrase London MMA Fight Gym under UFC Veteran, Owner and Head Coach Jess Liaudin and Head Instructor Paul Hines.
Weekly
Muay Thai at Ko Gym under British and World Champion, Bill Judd and British and English Champion, David Pacquette.
Western Boxing at Peacock Boxing Gym under Peacock Gym Senior A.B.A Coach, Andre Olley.
Brazilian Ju-Jitsu at BJJ Essex under Submission Expert, Felipe Alves de Souza & Michael Russell.
Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling at Top Wrestling Academy under ADCC European Submission Wrestling Champion, Robert Sulski.
I have continued to develop my fighting ability and expand comfort zones by training and fighting out of Pancrase London MMA Fight Gym under UFC Veteran, Owner and Head Coach Jess Liaudin and Head Instructor Paul Hines.
In 2007 I gained experience fighting in MMA ZT Fight Promotion and in October 2008 fought in Cage Fighters Championship 4, beating Greek opponent Panas Kamiris in 3m25s of Round 1 by way of Rear Naked Choke (RNC).
I am also a qualified 1st Aider, CRB approved and is Owner and Chief Instructor of Integrated Self Protection I.S.P. I have been insured and authorised to teach under both Geoff Thompson and Peter Consterdine of the British Combat Association.
Best Regards to all,
Mark.
