Re: Anybody else but me...
I love Bikes but haven't owned one since my Honda Z50 circa 1980 (and I'm 35 now)
I'll be getting one in the next couple of years, given the shity learner laws in Australia and particularly Queensland, it'll be a 250, but thats alright it's been a very long time since a had a leg over and i want it for commuting anyway, will probably go a Kawa' ZZ/R 250 (it's one of the few 250cc sport-ish bikes that I fit on. It's technically a sports/tourer so it is a little more upright sitting compared to a full on sports machine like the CBR-250 RR or the new 250R Ninja (great bike my legs just don't quite fit under the tank molding as well as on the ZZR). Lets be honest A 250 cruiser just doesn't seem proper.
no doubt after the required L-plate time I will want something bigger, the problem is I don't really know what, I'm over the need to do 300km/hr and I want a bike that is comfortable. I'll probably go for a mid sized metric cruiser something like the Suzuki M50 Boulevard (800CC), or though I do like the Honda VFR800. basically i want a bike I can ride often around town and will enjoy a trip through the hinterland or up the coast. not into big touring (yet) but short weekend stints are appealing.
I don't need huge pots but lets be honest there si a certain well you know about a HD I like the softails( esp. Heritage and Fatboy) and the Street Rod seems to have a good mix of cornering and grunt. I just can't see the point of buying a bike that costs more then most cars. but then again I haven't ridden a Harley i imagine the penny will drop when i do.
As for choppers and the whole custom thing, they seem a little impractical to me, but having worked a a car or two in the past I understand the love of them.
if I had my way I'd have a garage full of different bikes; cbr1000rr, Hayabusa, heritage, 1200 GS etc etc

Re: Anybody else but me...
So we have a couple of closet 1% ers out there then!
As for you Mick the projects at Benny's are going well...My 1951 Panhead engine arrives this week! Yee Ha!
We are also making a TV programme about Benny and his pals around the UK. Garage Built Bikes and all that. Getting away from the bloody garish American Chopper idea and showing people that they can build bikes that are cool and reasonably priced. We were filming all day Saturday...which was fun.
Anyway back to fighting...

These are my 2 bikes. 2007 Yamaha R1 and a 1990 Honda 750 Max Biaggi replica Track Bike. The Honda is having an engine transplant at the moment because of the last trip to Donington!!!
The R1 pic is a one of the net will post some of mine later.
We will have to sort a ride out in the dryer??? months with all the different types of bike.

Re: Anybody else but me...
Hi Pete
the bikes I ride and build are one offs...so the price is representative of the uniqueness of them. The only stock thing on my bike is the engine. A 1986 Sportster engine (Harley davidson). Everything else is garage built and not your typical Orange County Choppers style Aaaaargh! I like to keep my bikes as sort of throwbacks to the 60's and 70's...That could be my age I guess!
When I get the chance I will post the pics I have on facebook on here and let you get a close up.
Oh! The price? Anything between 10k & 18k and thats' a Benny Thomas price. (Benny owns the back street garage www.boneshakerchoppers.co.uk

Re: Anybody else but me...
Thought I could post a couple photos of my bikes, but looks like I 'can't get there from here' as it were - the photos need to be on the net. Ah well.
I have a 1976 Honda 400 Four, which I've owned for 16 years, and a 1969 Triumph 650 Bonneville which needs work, (of course!) but is a blast when it runs.
If I could have any bike I wanted, it would be a 1974 Ducati 750 SS ...... oh yeah ......
