Incapacitating someome but not fatally wounding them or fatally wounding them but not stopping them at that exact moment when you have to?

Not sure what the question is mate?

For self protection, why would anyone choose a technique that is fatal but that doesn't stop them at that time???

It would serve no purpose both in reducing the immediate risk and danger, or in helping you stay out of jail.

If you have to get physical then it should be with the appropriate technique for the situation.
In my opinion it should be a technique that renders the person unconscious rather than administers pain.

Sorry Al i didn't come accross to clear in my question, what i ment was if you are an experienced person when it comes to dealing with violence like you and many others are then in a situation you can use a strategy in regard to where and how hard to strike someone. As one example i remember Geoff stating in his Fence book that most people die when there head hits the floor after the ko (fatal),so he could lesson the chances of this happening by striking the jaw in a clipping down motion which he said not only could control which way they fell after the ko but could also control how hard they fell(a tumble instead of a crashing fall).

    for me anyway...

    in the moment....

i will use whatever is necessary to stop my opponent from hurting me, probably like most guys on here. i hope i never have to kill someone to stop them but if they die because of my actions i would hope i feel justified in those actions.

    Hi Marc

I'm with you now - sorry mate - too many bangs on the head I suspect drunken

As Les said, you do whatever you have to when the time comes.
Not sure about changing the angle of the punch to the jaw to lessen the damage to be honest.
However you knock the guy out with your shot, a good proportion of the damage will be caused by the secondary impacts of when his head and body hits the floor or surrounding objects.

Punching for me is always number one in terms of it's effectiveness and fight ending ability.

However, if you want to look at "safer" ways of ending fights then I would switch and look at chokes and strangles. They are still knock out techniques but you have a greater degree of control, both over the severity of the knock-out and also the control of the unconscious body when you lay them or throw them on the floor.

I used my grappling skills alot more when working the doors because it was a more compassionate way of dealing with individuals. I saved the punching for the more extreme situations when I felt more than justified in knocking someone out and letting mother nature decide on the secondary damage caused.

It's also ben my experience that I've hit different people with roughly the same punch/technique and they've fallen in completely different ways. Some flew backwards, some fell forwards, some even had their head land where their feet were (very odd indeed)

Hope this makes more sense mate

    Wink
