Hi All
Long time no speak. Due to some issues, I have been lying low to get them resolved and the hard work has paid off so all good :-)
Thought I'd post a quick note about Peter Consterdine coming to Dublin. After spending time on e-mail and on the phone getting advice from Peter, I finally got to meet him last Saturday when Aidan Carroll of Hard Target hosted a seminar with Peter and his assistant...also Peter. We spent the morning and early afternoon training and then went for dinner and a walk on Howth Head which is a beautiful cliff walk and on a clear day you can see the coast of Wales!
Anyway, back to the training. Everyone was really looking forward to the training session and none were disappointed. Peter took us through some warm-ups to burn out our shoulders as he didn't want us using our arms at all when striking. That sounds strange I know but he just wanted us to work on getting our body mass behind each strike using the tried and tested 'double hip'. I first got some instruction on this from Al Peasland who gave me some fine tips at Geoff T's masterclass last year and now getting to work more with Peter C on this was a real treat. I have some great stuff to work on now and can feel an improvement in my impact already.
We spent most of our time working on the double hip with various strikes including elbows, head/shoulder thrust and the power slap and then Peter gave us some demonstrations showing us the power and speed that can be achieved with a lot of hard work using some of the drills they do in their Thursday and Sunday morning sessions. When he asked "Any questions?", everyone sat in silence. I told him that everyone was just in shock at what they had witnessed...the man is pure class.
All in all, it was a very successful day and it was great to end it sitting around a table with my son Daniel, young Peter, Aidan and Peter C...eating and gathering some valuable knowledge from him inbetween mouthfuls of fish and chips! I look forward to more world class instruction from Peter in the not too distant future.
